The Los Angeles County Fire Department is investigating after two small planes collided mid-air in Lancaster on Sunday afternoon.
A call regarding two downed planes came in at 12:53 p.m., an L.A. County Fire Department spokesperson confirmed to KTLA.
Although information is scarce, including how many occupants were in each plane and what type of aircraft they were, the spokesperson did say one of the plane’s occupants reported no injuries.
L.A. County Fire Department confirmed that the planes did collide mid-air and that one of them was a single-engine Cessna. One pilot was killed while the other reported no injuries.
One of the planes crash landed on Avenue G near 60th Street East, fire officials said, and CHP confirmed to KTLA that the other aircraft crashed near 47th Street East and Avenue F, which is approximately two miles to the southeast.
CHP, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and the Los Angeles County Fire Department are at the scene handling the investigation.
No further details were disclosed.
