Police and paramedics responded to the Manchester Square neighborhood of South Los Angeles Friday afternoon following a report of a possible stabbing on an LA Metro bus.
Video from Sky5 showed the stopped bus near a gas station at the intersection of Western Avenue and 76th Street around 2:30 p.m.
A Los Angeles Police Department vehicle was parked at the scene and an officer was in conversation with a man who was sitting on the ground near a gas station sign with what appeared to be a bloody wound to the neck.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics eventually put that person into a gurney and loaded them into the back of an ambulance for further evaluation.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department later confirmed that officers responded to the area around 2:20 p.m. for a report of a victim suffering from a laceration wound.
The victim, a man in his 50s, was purportedly stabbed and suffered a neck wound.
By the time police arrived at the scene, the suspect had fled, officials said.
By Friday evening, LA Metro released more information regarding the attack on the bus, releasing a statement to KTLA in which it said two people were attacked, including the stabbing victim and a second victim who suffered undisclosed injuries that were considered minor.
Both victims were transported to the hospital and were last listed in stable condition.
Metro officials also said a suspect had since been taken into custody.
“We remain grateful for our bus operators who continue to deal with societal issues while transporting our passengers across the county,” the LA Metro statement reads.
The investigation is ongoing and no further details have been released at this time.
Anyone with additional information about the attack is asked to contact L.A. Regional Crime Stoppers online or by calling 800-222-8477.
