It’s not just the Chargers and Rams that are bringing new concepts to the table, as there will be new food options at SoFi Stadium for the upcoming NFL season.
KTLA 5’s Samantha Cortese, a Chargers fan, was lucky enough to get a sneak preview of some of the new food items and spoke with the stadium’s executive chef, Omar Almaraz.
“We did a lot of research and development [in the offseason] and really brought the culture of Los Angeles and the region,” Almaraz said. “We’ve got a bunch of different cuisines from different cultures and then we just put our spin on everything.”
According to a release put out by the stadium last month, new food concepts that will be sold throughout the stadium include barbecue options, deli-style sandwiches and Asian fare.
Among the new meals are an Italian pot roast sandwich, poke nachos, Texas Twinkies and stromboli dogs, the latter of which is described by Chef Almaraz as “basically salami wrapped in a hot dog with provolone cheese and croissant dough” that is served with marinara sauce.
“That sounds too decadent for a football game,” Samantha quipped, but the chef thought the opposite.
“It’s perfect,” he said.
In addition to the new food items, SoFi Stadium also expanded its Uber Eats mobile ordering pickup service and added a new grab-and-go market as well as a new grab-and-go drink stand, officials said.

The Chargers are home first this year; they take on their AFC West rivals, the Las Vegas Raiders, on Sunday at 1:05 p.m.
The Rams travel to Detroit for Week 1 to face the Lions and are also away in Week 2 against the Arizona Cardinals. Their home opener is Sept. 22 against the San Francisco 49ers.
