A Camarillo man is behind bars after he allegedly killed two people and injured two more in Oxnard and Camarillo Thursday afternoon.
Alvin Otis Johnson, 42, first stabbed 33-year-old Ricardo Juarez just after 1 p.m. as the two were in Juarez’s car at Rice Avenue and Channel Islands Boulevard in unincorporated Oxnard, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Juarez was left at that location by Johnson, who fled in the victim’s car. Juarez later succumbed to his wound at a local hospital.
About four hours later, another violent attack was reported, this time in the 3400 block of Huerta Court in Camarillo. When deputies arrived, they found Johnson with a handgun, and he was taken into custody, authorities said.
Inside the home, Marilyn Gallagher, 75, had sustained “severe head trauma,” and she was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Additionally, an adult man who had sustained injuries reported the attack at the Camarillo Police Station, and a second wounded man was found at the Huerta Court home.
The two wounded men, ages 51 and 47, are acquaintances of Johnson’s, as was Gallagher.
Johnson faces multiple charges: two counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder, negligent discharge of a firearm, kidnapping, false imprisonment and being an addict in possession of a firearm.
He is being held at the Ventura County Main Jail in lieu of $2 million bail, and he is due to appear in Ventura County Superior Court on Tuesday.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Kathryn Torres at 805-384-4740.
