Authorities are searching for a hit-and-run driver who injured a California Highway Patrol officer by slamming into the back of a patrol vehicle Tuesday morning.
The crash occurred around 8:15 a.m. on the eastbound 91 Freeway near Euclid Street, the CHP confirmed.
The officer was conducting a traffic stop on the side of the freeway when his SUV was struck by a driver who fled the scene, Officer Graham said.
The officer was injured in the crash and transported to a local hospital, Graham said. The extent of the injuries to the officer was unknown.
The suspect continued driving in a black pickup truck which became disabled and was abandoned not far from the crash scene.
The driver was not located when authorities found the vehicle.
The suspect was described as a Hispanic man about 5 feet 7 inches tall wearing a white shirt and blue shorts.
