Good news California anglers, residents will have the opportunity to test their fishing luck for two days this summer without paying.
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife announced Tuesday that the public “can get hooked on a new adventure” beginning this Saturday, July 6, and again on Saturday, Aug. 31.
“The public can fish throughout the Golden State without a fishing license,” the Department stated in its news release.
Officials also noted that children 15 years old and younger can fish for free every day of the year in California.
“For those new to fishing, this is an opportunity to explore a rewarding and exciting new hobby,” the Department stated.
More information on fishing California’s lakes, streams and rivers can be found on the Fish and Wildlife website.
Information is also available on the Fish and Wildlife website about free fishing opportunities on specific piers, jetties and breakwaters along the coast.
Other tools on the website include a fish planting schedule and a fishing guide.
