A day after a fire ripped through one Monrovia home and damaged another, investigators are continuing to investigate what sparked the destruction.
The fire was reported at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of East Colorado Boulevard, and neighbors report there was at least one explosion as well.
“I was in the shower and I heard a big explosion,” neighbor Phil Clark told KTLA’s Kimberly Cheng. “It felt like something happened in my house.”
While no one was injured, the chaos caused a cat named Loki to flee. The cat’s owners are still looking for their pet.
In addition, one occupant of one of the homes, a renter, was not present at the time, and officials are hoping to contact them to ensure they’re safe.
Meanwhile, arson investigators are on scene working to determine what prompted the flames and explosion.
