Police in the San Fernando Valley are responding to a 7-Eleven where an armed man has barricaded himself inside one of the store’s back rooms.
According to Los Angeles Police Department Officer Cuellar, a man armed with a broken glass bottle made his way inside the 7-Eleven, located near the corner of Sepulveda Boulevard and Vanowen Street in Van Nuys, around 4 a.m. Saturday.
The man, who is approximately 35 years old, started threatening employees and said he was armed with a handgun.
When LAPD officers got to the area, the man barricaded himself inside a room in the store.
He was not holding anyone hostage and all employees were accounted for, LAPD said.
Multiple SWAT vehicles were observed at the scene, and traffic was blocked off at Sepulveda and Archwood Street.
As of 9:30 a.m., the man remained barricaded inside the store.
