Six Flags Magic Mountain will implement a chaperone policy beginning Sept. 7 for its upcoming Halloween event, Fright Fest Extreme.
Under the new policy, “all guests 15 years old or younger must be accompanied by a chaperone who is at least 21 years old to be admitted to or remain in the park during Fright Fest Extreme after 4:00 p.m. local time to park close.”
The chaperone must also present a valid government-issued photo identification with a date of birth listed at the ticket entry. One chaperone may accompany up to 10 guests, remain inside the park during their party’s visit and be available by phone. The new requirement applies to one-day visitors and season pass holders.
Six Flags said it is implementing this policy after seeing an increase in incidents of “unruly and inappropriate behavior” in the theme park industry and other entertainment venues.
Knott’s Berry Farm, owned by the same parent company as Six Flags, implemented a similar policy in 2022 after seeing increased fights during the summer.
Guests who don’t adhere to the new chaperone policy at Six Flags will be “subject to ejection,” the park said.
“We believe these changes will help ensure that Six Flags Magic Mountain continues to have a positive atmosphere where thrill-seekers can gather for a day of safe, fun, and thrilling experiences,” Six Flags said in a statement.
