In a horrifying scene on Friday evening, a woman in Southern California was stabbed to death by her boyfriend in front of her children, according to police.
In a news release issued Sunday morning, the Simi Valley Police Department said they received a call at 6:04 p.m. Friday from the woman’s daughter. The daughter reported that her mother was being stabbed by her live-in boyfriend.
Police said Raymond Rivas, 34 of Simi Valley, was quickly arrested without incident at the scene, Simi Valley PD Commander Wedemeyer said.
The woman, Jessica Tinoco, also 34 of Simi Valley, was found inside a residence with stab wounds to the face, chest and abdomen.
Tinoco was transported to a local hospital, where she later died, police said.
KTLA spoke to a family member of Tinoco on Sunday who as a mother of five who was involved in a romantic relationship with Rivas for a little less than two years.
The family member said that Rivas stabbed Tinoco multiple times in front of all of her children.
According to police, Rivas was booked into Ventura County Main Jail on suspicion of murder. He was on Post Release Community Supervision at the time of the incident meaning he also violated probation in the alleged act.
No additional details were immediately made available.
