Firefighters were dispatched to two separate brush fires in Simi Valley Wednesday afternoon.
The first one, dubbed the Sharp Fire, was reported on Sharp Road near Ditch Road, burning as much as 5 acres, the Ventura County Fire Department said.
Because the fire is burning close to stories, including a hospital in the area, the fire department requested air tankers to get a better handle on the second-alarm fire.
Another group of firefighters were sent to another fire just a few miles away from the the Sharp Fire.
The so-called Sequoia Fire on Sequoia and Aspen Streets appeared to be smaller in size with less vegetation while burning least 1 acres without posing any threats to structures in the area.
