State officials are warning the public against consuming a brand of cannabis-containing sodas as they contain what officials described as “prohibited intoxicating ingredients.”
The California Department of Public Health on Thursday said Mary Jones hemp-infused sodas contain “prohibited tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) isolate ingredients,” thus making them “a risk to consumers.”
The sodas’ active ingredient is a THC isolate produced from hemp, not marijuana, making them federally legal but prohibited in California. M
“California simply will not tolerate the distribution and sale of unsafe, mislabeled and illegal products that put the health of the public at risk,” said CDPH Director Dr. Tomás J. Aragón. “We continue to work with partners across the state to help protect our communities, especially our youth, from illegal hemp products.”
