Streams are flowing and flowers are blooming at Mammoth Lakes.
Photos shared Friday by Mammoth Lakes Tourism show vast fields of wildflowers and roaring waterfalls fueled by the melting of snow-capped peaks.
Officials for the tourism board say now is the time to visit if you want to see the natural splendor in it all its glory.
For those looking to capture photos of California wildflowers, Mammoth Lakes Tourism recommends traveling on Benton Crossing Road to see Lupine blooming alongside the road or visiting McGee Canyon for trips on foot. Bitterbrush, one of the most prominent wildflower species in Mammoth, is still blooming in various locations throughout the region, officials said.
Visitors are encouraged to visit as soon as possible while the wildflowers are still in bloom.
Mammoth Mountain, the popular ski resort located just a short drive from the town of Mammoth Lakes, received more than 300 inches of snowfall during the most recent ski season.
That major mountain accumulation is contributing to powerful streams flowing off steep cliffs, creating breathtaking waterfalls.
Several waterfalls in and around Mammoth Lakes are active and flowing with power, officials said.
Twin Lakes Falls and Rainbow Falls in Mammoth Lakes, Lundy Canyon Falls near Lee Vining and Horsetails Falls at June Lake are all flowing and ready to be witnessed in person.
